VRDL's Ref Camp

Going to Melbourne end of january for vrdl's ref camp.
They're flying in Rev Riot of http://revriot.blogspot.com/, lvl 4 WFTDA certified referee and chair of the WFTDA referee committee.

Best part is, SkateWA are paying the camp fee, and my airfare.

At our 3rd bout of 2010, I had two confrontations.

The first was about the scoring.
The captain approached with her own score-sheet that her team had been using to keep track of their score. They disagreed with the current score.
After I confirmed with my team that the score was correct, she accused me of not doing my job and that she was not satisfied with the officiating.
I suggested that if she was unhappy with the job I was doing that her team could forfeit. I pretty much immediately regretted saying that. It was waaaaay over the line. In hindsight and consultation with other refs, I should have just ended the discussion and carried on with the game.

The other confrontation was with a penalty timer. At half time the jammer penalty timer approached me saying that one of the other penalty timers timed and gave instructions to a jammer. I approached the penalty timer concerned and attempted to resolve the issue.
Clearly I was using poor communication as the discussion very quickly became confrontation with the penalty timer becoming defense and accusing me of not trusting him.
After the game I resolved the confrontation (should have done it at half time).

I really should work on how I approach issues so as not to escalate them.

Having been highly recommended many many times, I finally bought it from Amazon.

So far it's really interesting reading.
